How to save a life:

Let's say it's 6:15pm and you're going home (alone of course), after an unusually hard day on the job. You're really tired, upset and frustrated. Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up into your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest ...your home. Unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far......You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself. HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!! A cardiologist says If everyone who gets this broadcast sends it to 10 people, you can bet that we'll save at least one life. Please contribute by broadcasting this which can save a person's life!!!! ~~Just A Little Drama~~

Family? Bah, humbug. Well my kids and grand kids are great. But there are a number of family members who believe that I'm a lesbian. I'm not. The thing is that I just can't tell them, "My ex is the reason that I became divorced, but it's my brother-in-laws that gave me pause to stay single for 27 years."

My baby sister is divorced from her list of husbands. My other younger sister between me and my baby sister is married to the same man who impregnated her when she was 15. That was the only baby she ever had, because her husband's issues gave her pause to think it might not work out well if she had more kids. She's worked since her daughter was born and been the sole breadwinner during most of the past 36 years.

Her husband is disabled, but not too disabled to go hunting and fishing or hanging out with his "friends". He doesn't qualify for any kind of program for the disabled because my sister makes too much money. Now my sister is getting ready to retire. I've warned her that she'll go right back to work because she's use to having all that money. Oh well to each their own. My concern is that she'll retire and finally get to know her husband.

Sometimes a person is just a lot happier not knowing. If you're an intelligent adult you probably have experienced something like this.

My other sisters didn't fair any better in the husband department. So over the years when I would start to miss having a husband, I'd just spend time with my sisters who without knowing reminded me why I'm so much happier being fully in charge of my life.

I know that not all men are losers. My sons are men and they're great guys. Of course I did dedicate my life to raising them to be happy people. There are a good guys at my church. I just feel like with all the health problems I've developed over the years it would be unfair to inflict myself on a good guy. I certainly don't want to marry another loser. So this is me.

I am definitely not a lesbian. I have enjoyed many relationships over the years. Being able to move on without hating each other's guts is not common from what I've seen, but I've always been able to do that. I don't want a husband. I don't want a live in boyfriend. In the midst of menopause, I don't even want a boyfriend right now.

I'm happy, and I believe that is what life should be about. No headaches for me, just a little drama from time to time with family members believing that I'm a lesbian.

~My Dad Was "Special"~

I speak of my mom a lot, but I seldom share my dad. My dad was a really "special" guy. If you're not laughing yet, you soon will be. My dad was a little different. He use to sing the chorus of popular songs with no warning, but that was all the words he knew of a song so he would sing them over and over again. Yep, he was one of those. He had a special way of watching television too. He'd get the radio on his favorite station, the television on the only channel we got clearly, then while I played my records and danced in the livingroom, my dad watched tv. LOL

Another thing about my dad he only had like a 6th grade education, but he always seemed to know everything. He knew all the really important stuff.

For example my dad taught me the following:
1. Never mow your toes.
2. Get married at 12.?.? Well maybe that was kind of weird. LOL
3. If the sign says, "Take one," then be sure to take at least one.
4. If the sign says, "Free," take all you can carry.
5. Never pay the asking price for a car.

He also taught me to make hash brown potatoes, and this sugary concoction we called, "Melted junk." It was a mixture of sugar, cinnamon, and butter. If you cooked it too long it came out in one big chunk. That's what we made when we were desperate for something sweet.

My dad was really handy in wood work. He could look at a piece of wooden furniture and go out to the garage and make one. He made us tables and chairs and stilts. Plus my dad was a stay at home dad so all the neighborhood kids seem to love him too.

He would drive elderly ladies to the grocery store and such because our town had no taxi. My mom had a home daycare for a time and all the kids called my dad "Papa". My kids adored my dad.

Well he's gone now, so it's only the fond memories that matter now. You see my dad was a disabled veteran. During World War II my dad was a mortar mutt. He was loading his gun too slowly so his sargent ordered him to jump on a gun someone else had loaded and the gun blew up. My dad was only 19 when that happened but it changed his life forever. Now he's at peace, for the first time since he was 19. Now they call it PTSD. Look it up, you'll remember it better that way.

Tonight I Was Thinking...Oh No Not Again....LOL

Even my closet friends tremble with fear, when I engage my mind. LOL. Anyway, I was thinking tonight that there should be a special blog group of bloggers who want to do their best to change the conditions of the world as we know it. I have many causes that I support, like St. Jude's Children's Hospital, breast cancer awareness, anti-violence, looking for America's lost moral compass. Pick one and join me.

I'm currently urging parents, grandparents, and other child care providers to be smart and protect children from exposure to violence. Children are often exposed to violence in dysfunctional families, and also in violent video games, movies, television, etc. These children become desensitized to violence which increases the chance that they will carry on the legacy of violence and abuse.

Don't be afraid of your children. As a parent or other responsible child care provider, we have the right to protect our children and the children around us from exposure to violence.

If every blogger on the Internet will support me in protecting children from violence and warning others, we can make a big difference in the world in the not so long distant future.

Don't just read this post and do nothing. You can change the world. If not you, then who?

I'm addicted to digital scrapbooking, especially the free samples. If you have any really beautiful scrap kits that are free, please leave your URL in my comments section. Just leave the name of your site, that's faster. My only requirement is that you have to have a site on BLOGGER.

People often assume that because I'm a retired psychotherapist, I must have lots of cash. I'm retired. I live on a very small allowance each month. I became a psychotherapist to help people. Helping people makes me feel good but it doesn't pay much.

I was a Real Estate Broker before my divorce 26 years ago. I went into real estate because I loved retail sales and thought it would be like that just on a grander scale. I was wrong. I never enjoyed real estate. It paid very well, but it didn't make me happy.

After my divorce, I found myself in a position where I had to either be home when my babies weren't in school or let them grow up in daycare. So I went back to school. I was out of school when my boys were and that meant a lot to me and to them. They were 5 and 8. Somewhere along the way I discovered that I loved studying psychology. I wound up in the graduate program of my university and I discovered that I had actually been a psychotherapist my entire life. I just didn't know how to help the people who talked to me about their problems. I learned that part in school. However talking to me about their problems always had made them feel better, it was just something about me.

Now I'm retired due to poor health and living on a small amount of disability. I can't complain though. I have a home, food, family and friends. That's pretty much all I really need. At least my disability provides me with medical insurance to pay for my many medications and my medical care.

I'm happy with myself and with my life. My faith in God keeps me positive and looking forward to the future.

My PSP X2 is a fun hobby, and the great people who give away free scrap kits and/or free poser tubes help me a lot. Thank you so much if you're one of those people who share free scrap kits and/or poser tubes on your blogger sites. There are a few non-blogger sites I visit for freebies but most are on blogger.

A Professional Blogger: I'm Not Kidding

I'm proud to be a professional blogger. That takes a great deal of professionalism in all realms of blogging. You can't always see the professionalism that goes into building a successful blog, because this happens to be my personal blog. I don't get paid for this one, it's just for me and my online friends. A place to vent, a place to share, and a place to dream BIG.

The investment I've put into blogging outweighs the investment I've put into any other field. I earned a BA in English, as well as a Master's Degree in Psychology. As a Real Estate Broker, I was never really happy with my accomplishments. Then my divorce ended my Real Estate work, since I was licensed to work out of my father-in-law's office. Sure I could have moved my license but I had never been truly happy, for a number of reasons, in Real Estate. I had become a broker because I had loved retail sales work and was very talented at it. Real Estate wasn't the same thing at all.

I decided to re-educate myself by taking college courses while my two young sons were in school. In that way, I could be available to my sons when they were out of school. I learned to do odd tutoring jobs and milk the system until I could again provide adequately for my kids.

What to do? I decided that if I majored in Professional Education, I could still be off work when my kids were not in school and I could help people in that way. Then I discovered that I could not stand other people's kids. They just weren't as well behaved as my own children. So I began to consider dropping out of college. Instead of going to my adviser, I went to the department head. He looked at my work and my needs for graduation and we worked it out that I could complete my two required minors in one year if I remained in school at least that long.

I made it through that year. I completed a minor in Management, which was easy with my business background. Then I began my Psychology minor and I fell in love with a new field. Psychology came to me in a snap. I could understand everything about it. I could apply it. I had been a layman psychologist my entire life and hadn't even realized it. My friends always said they loved the way I always listened and always made them feel better about their problems and to look at them in a more positive way.

I completed that minor in Psychology, and was welcomed into the graduate program with open arms. Psychology came quite naturally to me, and I displayed a great deal of professionalism and understanding of the field.

My first job after graduate school challenged me in many new ways. I taught myself everything I didn't learn in graduate school. Fortunately I worked with a very talented Psychiatrist and she taught me everything I needed to know about psychoactive medications. While I taught myself everything I needed to know about Behavior Therapy. I became very good at my job.

After a few years, my Type A personality and the stress of my job, began to effect my health. I became sicker until I left my position and moved into a less demanding environment.

Now, I'm disabled do to stress related health problems. I haven't let illness sideline me. Now I am a PROFESSIONAL BLOGGER. I address many of the political issues of the day. I ask that you, the reader, think about what I post.

~~New To PSP (Paint Shop Pro)?~~

I remember feeling restricted with Microsoft Paint, and wanting something more challenging. So I bought a new program "Paint Shop Pro X2" and began to learn to use it. From experience I know that I have a really difficult time learning something knew unless I break it down and teach myself a little at a time. I began to learn and became increasingly fascinated.

I have made a few mistakes that I'm working to rectify now. I'm hoping that this tip will help you avoid my mistakes and save you time in the future.

When you're learning to use PSP, you'll need some materials to practice with and something more than is supplied by Corel with you PSP program. So here's one important step that I always use now when collecting "Freebies" to practice with. First make a folder for each site you visit for "Freebies" this works great if you're collecting "Free Poser Tubes", "Free Scrap Kits", free psp patterns or free psp masks or whatever you fancy. Always Make a folder with the name of the site on it, if there is more than one designer or more than one sub-site you may wish to make sub-folders inside each site folder. For example one of my favorite free poser tubes sites is Dic&VicBarnes @ http://www.dicvicbarnes.com/FreeTubes47.html this link will take you to page 47 but if the site is new to you, start with page 1. I made a folder with the name DicVicBarnes on it, then each tube has a number which comes in really handy. You'll see what I mean as you progress with your PSP program. Then
be sure to save at least one current copy of their TOU (Terms Of Use), saving the complete URL to your computer bookmarks is good to. By the way they do update you when they post new tubes and they're very good at that. They make quality tubes and if you use them be sure to credit them, pretty much every designer on the Internet wants credit for their work and you will too. Be courteous, say thanks, and follow the rules for terms of use. Like I said DicVic is a great site. There are many sites like this, most of which also offer their products for purchase. I for one do not buy from a site that only offers their failures or seconds as freebies, I don't trust their work if I can't see a quality product in the freebies. There are a few other sites I recommend for free poser tubes, outlawbydesign (updated every few months), Anita's tubes (not often updated apparently), and Graphic Allusions (which has a re-vamped site and is updated with a few more tubes regularly at this time), there's Lynne's Designs, and Barbara Kermis's site (not poser tubes but very cute psp tubes).

Now you're ready for the more complicated folders, for example "Needful Things" is a really great site. There are individual sections for each individual designer. I made a folder with "Needful Things" on it, then I made each designer on the site a folder inside my "Needful Things" folder. I saved a copy of each designer's current terms of use (terms of use do change sometimes so if you're interested in less restricted terms, you'll need to keep that current). (* Maybe I should have mentioned this sooner but it slipped my mind.) If you share a computer with other family members you may want to create a folder with your name on it, a general description of what you intend to use the folder for like free tubes or free scrap kits, etc. I think the Pictures Folder on my computer may be the best place to place these folders, but I store mine in the documents folder because it's my son's computer and that's my assigned area. LOL. Now back to your freebie folders, always date your new freebies so that you don't wind up downloading the same things over and over like I did in the beginning.

Another great resource I've found for free supplies are scrap kit sites. I apply the same rules to those folders as to my tubes folders. Everyone wants credit for their work and there are some restrictions depending on it the kits are for personal use or commercial use. You may want to make two folders for your scrap kits though, the kits that look new, and the kits that look vintage. *There are some really beautiful kits on Renderosity, they're not free though, when you're ready to buy scrap kits, look for "Sew&Sew" on Renderosity, I can't remember the name of the store but there is a search option on Renderosity which helps a lot. Also if you haven't already thought of this, type in free psp masks, or free psp patterns, etc. into the search box you most often use and you'll find some great free stuff for your PSP and often the individuals will give you instructions on how to install their goods into your PSP program.

I use McAfee security right now, and it warns me that a site may have dangerous downloads. Avoid those as much as possible. I've been surprised by how many warnings I've gotten on some of the file storage sites that I've been using for years. You'll have to use your own judgement whether to use these sites or not.

I've had no major problems with McAffee, but I've used Norton also and it seems to be a good security program. You just have to decide which programs work best to meet your individual needs.

**Never use the Internet without some kind of Internet security program protecting your computer.

I can't think of anything else to add at this time. I'm still learning too.

1. Remember to credit everyone for their work, someday you'll want to be credited for yours.
2. Start out organized so you can find your stuff later.
3. Remember to adhere to each artists terms of use.

5. Remember you are free to experiment with your PSP in the privacy of your own home.
6. When you create an original that you're proud of remember to give yourself credit. You may want to date every new creation so if you choose to improve on it later.
7. Always save everything on a backup disks so you won't lose it if your computer goes to Computer Heaven. LOL.
8. Don't be afraid to use general terms such as "free psp textures" in your search box. I still love finding new and wonderful sites.

I waited because I believed someone would stop the leak in a few days. After time began exceeding my expectations, I sent an email to DC telling them how to stop the leak. (Like they read their emails?) Now many weeks later, the leak goes on. Did it occur to anyone else that BP (in charge of the leak) may put profits before the environment and even before other human beings and that recouping losses and making profits may be motivating them? There's absolutely NO excuse for any company to drill for oil in our oceans when they have no way to immediately stop the crude from flowing. Now the pressure of the oil is the excuse for it's still leaking in massive quantities, while someone is still collecting crude from the leak. (I vote that all the money from the crude BP collects while their well continues to leak, goes to the people of the gulf whose lives are so nightmarish due to BP's incompetence. I would also award the government agency that overseas safety on such operations with some lovely PINK SLIPS.) I realize that I don't have all the facts, but I was born and raised in Oklahoma best known for it's production of OIL. GRRRRRRRRRR......

....How about NO MORE drilling for oil in our oceans until the oil companies can prove that it can be done responsibly and they have viable solutions to protect our oceans and the residents or our country and the ocean itself along with its inhabitants? Entrepreneurs pay attention! There exists a definite market for Crisis Management, which has become obvious during this man-made disaster.

~~I'm Thinking Again~~

I'm thinking again and that always means trouble, not necessarily negative. Sometimes, I'm very constructive when I'm thinking. When I'm thinking I often find myself wandering across the internet into the abyss.

Since I've been retired, I have become my favorite patient. I do everything I tell me to. Therapy instills in us that we are not alone in the universe. Frequently our therapists seem to have more quirks than we the patients. I tend to do therapy on every therapist I talked to. Works for me. Although my university classes taught me a great deal about the world, I think more than anything else they taught me that learning new things makes me happy and it even makes me brighter.

As a person, I believe that we really need to love one another and to be loved and appreciated.   As a therapist, I believe that most people already have the cure for what ails them.   So I guide them and educate them. I guess that means my approach to therapy would be an educational approach.

Mostly, I can be eclectic in my style of therapy. Throw in some Rogers, some Skinner, some........well maybe that's it. Accepting the patient as a person helps the patient and therapist establish rapport.   For addictions, behavioral therapy works very well. Cognitive therapy helps a great deal when when treating cognitive distortions. The patient learns to recognize, analyze, and correct their cognitive distortions.   During therapy sessions, listening is very important, but the patient needs to know that the therapist listens as part of their assessment and is very interesting in what the patient shares in sessions.

Once patient and therapist have established rapport, assessment of the patient's problem continues. Once we build the treatment plan around the patient's goals for therapy. "What does the patient want from therapy?" With realistic goals, we build the course of treatment. Another important question for therapy, "What assets does the patient bring with them into treatment?" Once these questions are answered either directly or indirectly, it's time to decide if the patient and therapist understand one another. With my approach to therapy, homework becomes a part of the patient's life. During the course of treatment the patient learns to recognize and correct their cognitive distortions, build and maintain their self-esteem, and locate materials for further learning.

Warning: Some treatment centers, allegedly require that the therapist use a common style of therapy with all patients.   Makes no sense to me either.

Certain disorders respond well to individual therapy and other disorders respond well to group therapy. If you're therapist cries, laughs, or talks to invisible friends; you may want to keep looking for a qualified, ethical, well-informed professional to meet your needs in a therapist. People frequently over generalize when it comes to therapist; if the patient doesn't feel good about their first visits with a therapist they may suffer in silence and never return. If you, the patient, do not feel okay with your therapist please keep looking.   We're therapists to help others, but we're not one size fits all.   If you feel discouraged by your first visit, remember that all people are unique even therapists. A good rule of thumb, Ive the therapist 10 or 12 weeks. Then reassess your professional relationship.

Professional ethics dictate certain behaviors are inappropriate in therapy. I recommend not developing personal relationships with patients. Report any lewd, illegal, or immoral behavior by a therapist, to their bosses and/ or board therapist is licensed by.

Fact or Fiction? "Therapists are more screwed up than their patients." Allegedly, it's not unusual for a therapist to need/have had therapists of their own. I'd recommend a regular appointment even if it's only to vent (A checkup from the neck up.) Although I say give your new therapist a chance, I also say that if your intuition tells you the professional is inept, shady, dangerous, or unrealistic you can always try another therapist. Remember that all of us are just people. We all have assets and flaws. Give us a chance.

I was thinking today, yes it's a rare thing for me to think. Here's what I was thinking. "What Do You Love About Your Job?" I've always been told that if you find the work you love, the money will come on it's own. So do you have a job? Are you happy with your job? What do you love about your work?

Many many years ago, I was a licensed Real Estate Broker. It was fun, and I could work a little a make a lot of money. Something just didn't feel right.
So I went back to school and became a psychotherapist. My goal was to help people and at that point I really didn't care about money or material possessions. Helping other people, after decades of other jobs, satisfied that place in my soul where the "something" was missing.

Now I'm retired, but I still use my training and experience to help other people. I am very happy. I have been blessed with many gifts. None of my gifts involve money, my gifts are blessings to my life and to those around me, my family and friends.

I honestly expected more intelligence from Howard Stern, but I don't have a clue why. There is at least 64% of American women who are a size 12 or larger. With all the reasons that people become overweight, how could anyone with even half a brain think we would choose to be overweight.

I have to admit here that I'd rather be overweight than to suffer through anorexia and bulimia, been there done that. I love myself. Everyone has things they like about themselves and things they don't. Confidence is much more important than weight. Of course, there will always be morons who insult people who are overweight. Those same people will insult people who are vastly underweight.

To those it may concern, if some jerk like Howard Stern insults you because of your weight. Simply let him know that we can lose or gain weight as we need to, but he will always be ugly. Plus there is no cure for stupid.

We are loved; we love one another. I love you too Gabourey Sidibe. We're big and beautiful. We're winners who don't need someone like Howard Stern in our lives at all.

What Happened To Keanu Reeves?

I have been a fan of Keanu Reeves since he came on the scene during the mid 80's. River's Edge still seems to be his best work, if he lives long enough maybe he'll someday top that. I've heard all the Keanu stories over the years; rumor, gossip, and maybe even a dash of truth. Sometimes I wish I could ask him something but then I remember oh yeah, I don't actually know him. His sister still had cancer the last I heard but I'm curious as to how she's doing now.

I read the other day on the internet a story of how Keanu's wedding day went when he married a dude. Oh well to each their own, sometimes literally. Maybe it's just the psychotherapist in me that keeps me wondering what actually goes on in his tiny, tiny, tiny personal life. You never really know. Sometimes I look at Keanu with his ragged clothes that he apparently sleeps in for weeks maybe months between films. I wonder if he showers? Probably showers with his clothes on so that explains a lot. He's the love of everyone's life apparently both male and female. People who know him say he's a good guy.

Personally, I think he needs a lot of therapy. Let's see where would I start with him? Maybe he needs to learn about self-esteem, confronting depression, and assertiveness training wouldn't hurt either. I wonder about a rich dude who dresses like a vagrant. Shaving would be nice, as would of course the shower he takes before he goes back to work.

Years ago, I had all his movies upto a certain point, on VHS. Then DVD's came along, and I gave most my Keanu movies away in favor of switching to DVD's. Some of them were videos I recording from television. They weren't for sale anywhere. I've bought a few of his movies on DVD, but I doubt I'll ever see most of them on DVD. I'd really like to have, Walk In The Clouds. Oh and I'd like to have The Lakehouse, but I haven't seen it on DVD.

Well I guess I picked on Keanu enough for now. I hope he's happy whatever he

does. I wish he and his family well.

Jennifer Anistan?

Why do so many talk show hosts and commentars think Jennifer Aniston has a relationship problem? I watch a lot of the news and entertainment news, and I really feel for Jennifer. Why do they think we all have to have a husband to be happy? If I were Jennifer Anistan, I'd tell them to all go fly a kite and then I'd call up one of my hot looking honeys.

I actually have a similiar problem, men do not make me happy. I enjoy their company and the guys I know are not hot like the guys Jennifer dates.

The only time in my entire life that I felt lonely, was the 9 years I was married. However I still have to deal with people who think I need to be married or at least get laid.

No one can make someone else happy. We can only make our selves happy. Having been single for 25 years now, I really am a happy woman. After years of my dating, men don't understand my lack of interest but I am going through menopause. Still I do believe that we all need a really good therapist we can talk to. Let's all learn to be the best people we can be, and lets learn all we can about life, people, thoughs, and feelings. I know we're not all psychotherapist, but I was before I became too ill to work. How To Make Picture Tubes With PSP X2

1. Open PSP.
2. At the top left hand corner, click File.
3. Now click open.
4. Choose the image from your computer that you want to turn into a PSP picture tube.
5. Now you should be looking at your PSP workspace with your chosen image displayed.
6. Now go to the right hand side of your workspace to the layers palette, and now click on the small background copy of your image there. Right click on your image and a menu opens, choose promote to background and click on it. It becomes a raster layer.
7. Go to your tools menu next to your tools menu and choose background eraser, it's right under your regular eraser.
8. After your background is gone, go to File, go down the menu to Export. When the Export menu opens click on Picture tube.
9. Now just name your tube and you're ready to start your next tube.

**I like to check for missed background spots by adding a bottom raster and using the fill tool with a contrasting color. Then I undo the fill and the bottom layer, erase any spots missed with the regular eraser if necessary.

Okay America, get out there and enjoy your money. If you think the economy is going to fix itself or that politicians can fix it, wrong!

The only way to fix the economy now is to spend your money. If you've been waiting to buy a new car, this is a great time to do that while prices are at their lowest. Can't afford a new car? Then go buy something you've been putting off. I'm not saying to be careless with your money. You've worked hard for your money and deserve to use it as you see fit.

If you can't afford to go shopping for a big ticket item, then buy a new outfit. If you can't afford to spend on none essentials, then get out and buy some groceries. Stock your pantry, stock your freezer, get all those essentials that have dwindled away. So there you go America, a plan to fix the economy.

Now it's up to you to decide where and how much to spend. You're in control of the economy; enjoy it. Show the politicians who's boss.

What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!" an atheist said to himself. As he was walking alongside the river he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look. He saw a 7-foot grizzly charge towards him. He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder and saw that the bear was closing. He ran even faster, so scared that tears were coming to his eyes. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. His heart was pumping frantically and he tried to run even faster. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up, but saw the bear, right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike him. At that instant the atheist cried out "Oh my God!" Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent. Even the river stopped moving. As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky, "You deny my existence for all of these years, teach others I don't exist, and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer?" The atheist looked directly into the light. However, most formal religions are based on the very strong belief that a specific Higher Power exists. It is possible to have faith in such a Higher Power yet not be a follower of one of these religions. Here is how to search beyond yourself and find enough for you to prove god is real for yourself and others and bless the whole world...

Look at the finely tuned world around you. It was designed and made by an intelligent being, according to logic. For instance, life displays thousands of balanced and regulated bio-chemical and electrical systems, sight, hearing. This like a "living, growing, super-computing brain PLUS logic and emotions."
- These amazing systems also include gender, species, racial and familial characteristics -- "genetic programming of individualized uniqueness" and instincts, immune system, healing of injuries, digestion, even self-awareness, self-development and personality all point to highly organized and clearly purposeful traits: not random.
- Even non-living seemingly simple and also the complexly ordered things don't come into existence if they were never planned and made. Intelligence and logic is in all things seen and unseen (microscopic) in life.
Feel the pains or the joys of your life, not necessarily in your body, but in the heart and in your core-being. The pain can come from various sources, death of a beloved one, loss of a job, financial ruin, or divorce. The joy can come from finding love, reaching a goal or developing a new talent and nurturing your gifts.
Find it difficult to look forward to each day without thinking of what you had, lost and left you seeking real answers. Lost not to your choosing, but slipping away from you. Hold your hopes firmly.
Find it impossible not to look forward to each day because of the incredible opportunities you have been given, the beauty all around you, the magic you see in all aspects of nature and life.
Look around you -- your home, your car, your health, your talents are fine -- but they do not give meaning to life. Your tears may become less, or your joys become greater, but still you need someone to listen -- not just to hear your pain or share your accomplishments. You walk alone in your spirit, but not by choice. You are healing, but you need someone beyond a friend or family member to help you heal the loneliness you feel and share the magic that you see all around you.
Walk into a Church/Synagogue/Mosque/Zendon/Ashram/temple. Any faith or denomination, and attend a service. You are not looking to join that congregation, or learn the beliefs or that specific religion on this day, you are just looking for an inward life-giving, satisfying hope. This can be compared to sitting in a hospital Prayer Room. You sit alone with your thoughts, and pray. Your prayers are not really religious, but are releasing your feelings as if you are with your best friend. You are praying to God, a God you may even believe is of your making, but who has always been and always will be -- not exactly as described by any particular religion or scripture. Seek a fuller appreciation of faith and the meaning that gives existence.
Listen to what is said. If it makes you feel that you have found what you have been looking for, you will feel a stirring within you. Something warming and filling is happening. You suddenly feel less alone, and less helpless.
Think as you walk away and look at the sky, or the earth. You see that the Creator God did make it all, even you! Say, "I am finding faith, and life can have new meaning to me." Saying it thus repeatedly to oneself can help the idea bypass the rationalizing, doubting process and elevate it to a self-evident truth. Now turn to the Creator and live life as it was meant to be. Feel the gratitude - for all the Creator has done, and say, "Thank you that I no longer feel alone." Now you feel that when you need help and when you get down, you have someone to talk to, and guide you.
Decide to be joyful and experience the incredible gift of life; you will now be aware of the Power that has given you that most amazing gift.
Read a religious text such as the Bible, the Quran (Koran) or the Gita. Many people find guidance and truths for life in it. Try studying -- seeking, then you find. Develop a pattern of communicating with the Creator, praying and studying everyday.

Tips

If a loved one dies, and you ask "why"... 'why did they die', "why was I left alone", do not give up asking. A reason will be shown to you in time. When God determines you are ready to hear the answer the answer will be revealed.
Do not give up your faith, because something else comes along and knocks you down. God had a reason for that also.
Everything in life, every path you take, you have taken for a reason. Write it down, and follow the path. Then one day, read that Book, and track that path you took. Understand how the first path led to an old way, a straight path.
Have faith. Do not give up. Believe, and you will not ever be alone. You do not have to believe or join any particular religion to have faith.
The belief you have formed through faith, and in a Higher Power than you, does not just happen. You do not wake up one morning, brush your teeth, and say, "today I am going to believe in God. Today I am going to have faith". Something has to happen for you to need and and for you to trust for you to seek out that faith.
When you find faith, hold on to it tightly, do not allow it to slip away, do not stop believing. One day you will understand the feeling, I have a purpose in life, and if you are still seeking you will find a greater purpose, perhaps even when you least expect it.

We need more troups in Afghanistan to tackle the growing threat of terror in and around Pakistan where innocent civilians are now being murdered by terrorists such as Al Queda.

How to Know God Personally
What does it take to begin a relationship with God? Devote yourself to unselfish religious deeds? Become a better person so that God will accept you?
You may be surprised that none of those things will work. But God has made it very clear in the Bible how we can know Him.
The following principles will explain how you can personally begin a relationship with God, right now, through Jesus Christ...
Principle 1:
God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life.
God's Love"God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." 1
God's Plan[Christ speaking] "I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly" [that it might be full and meaningful]. 2
Why is it that most people are not experiencing the abundant life? Because...

Principle 2:
All of us sin and our sin has separated us from God.
We Are Sinful"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." 3
We were created to have fellowship with God; but, because of our stubborn self-will, we chose to go our own independent way, and fellowship with God was broken. This self-will, characterized by an attitude of active rebellion or passive indifference, is evidence of what the Bible calls sin.
We Are Separated"The wages of sin is death" [spiritual separation from God]. 4
This diagram illustrates that God is holy and people are sinful. A great gulf separates us. The arrows illustrate that we are continually trying to reach God and the abundant life through our own efforts, such as a good life, philosophy, or religion -- but we inevitably fail.
The third law explains the only way to bridge this gulf...

Principle 3:
Jesus Christ is God's only provision for our sin. Through Him we can know and experience God's love and plan for our life.
He Died in Our Place"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." 5
He Rose From the Dead"Christ died for our sins...He was buried...He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures...He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred..." 6
He Is the Only Way to God"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.'" 7
This diagram illustrates that God has bridged the gulf which separates us from Him by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in our place to pay the penalty for our sins.
It is not enough just to know these three principles...

Principle 4:
We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives.
We Must Receive Christ"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name." 8
We Receive Christ Through Faith"By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast." 9
When We Receive Christ, We Experience a New Birth
We Receive Christ by Personal Invitation[Christ speaking] "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him." 10
Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self (repentance) and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for your sins is not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. You receive Jesus Christ by faith, as an act of the will.

You can receive Christ right now by faith through prayer
Prayer is talking to God. God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. The following is a suggested prayer:
"Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be."

Sometimes I wonder why it is that the friend I love and trust the most is also the one I fight with the most? I doubt I'll ever really understand. Yet I do wonder. It hurts more to be angry with him than anything hurtful he's ever said. I'm not really jealous because he's not that kind of friend. I love him for him. He has something in his energy that says he's an okay guy. I've accepted that he'll never be like me, and I'll never be like him. Well he is a guy and I am a chick. It's like we're from different planets. I love all my friends. It's just this one who I get angry with. I don't like feeling angry with him, so I forgive him and myself and make up. I guess that's what a friend is. A friend is someone who knows how truly stupid I can be and loves me anyway.

1. God Loves You!
The Bible says, "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life"
The problem is that . . .

2. All of us have done, said or thought things that are wrong. This is called sin, and our sins have separated us from God.
The Bible says "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." God is perfect and holy, and our sins separate us from God forever. The Bible says "The wages of sin is death."
The good news is that, about 2,000 years ago,

3. God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins.
Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. "God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us."
Jesus rose from the dead and now He lives in heaven with God His Father. He offers us the gift of eternal life -- of living forever with Him in heaven if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me."
God reaches out in love to you and wants you to be His child. "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe on His name." You can choose to ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and come in to your life as your Lord and Savior.

4. If you want to accept Christ as Savior and turn from your sins, you can ask Him to be your Savior and Lord by praying a prayer like this:
"Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life. I ask you in to my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior. I want to serve you always."

The Most Unique Person

Jesus Christ is often compared to other prophets and teachers, but He is the most unique person to ever live. Everything from His birth to after His death was miraculous and set Him apart from everyone else. Jesus was born by a virgin -- a natural impossibility. Before His mother Mary was married, she was told by an angel she would give birth to the Son of God. When she asked him how this could be, he answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God." Just as promised, the virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ, the most incredible person to ever have lived.

An Amazing Life

Jesus' life was just as amazing as His birth. At 30 years old, He went out into the cities of Israel and began teaching and healing people. The Bible records that He was different from other preachers, for "the people were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes." Likewise, there was no disease too great for His power. It says, "They brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments. and He healed them." Threatened by His fame and authority, the political and religious authorities conspired to kill Him.

A Sudden Death

His death had been predicted over a thousand years before. The prophet Isaiah wrote of Jesus, "He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon Him and by His stripes we are healed." Jesus would pay the penalty for our sins so that we could be forgiven and have eternal life. Just as had been predicted, Jesus was given the most brutal death sentence of that day for maintaining that He was the Son of God. While hanging on a wooden cross with spikes through His hands and feet, He prayed, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." Jesus had power to come down from the cross, but He chose to sacrifice His life for others.

The Promise is for You

Just as promised, God raised His Son Jesus back to life -- eternal life -- on the third day after His burial. He was seen by His closest friends and over 500 of His followers before He went up into heaven before their very eyes. After His resurrection, his close friend Peter told a great crowd to repent from their sins and believe in Jesus Christ to be saved, "for the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call." This promise is for you! There are many religions and prophets, but no one but Jesus Christ offers complete forgiveness from your sins and eternal life with God. He has already died for your sins; now you must put your faith in Him. "For if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." If you believe in Jesus, you can pray a prayer like this right now and receive the gift of eternal life.

Receive Him Now

"Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God and the Savior of the world. Thank you for coming to Earth and dying so that I could have eternal life. Please forgive all my sins. I am going to follow You with my life now. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit and direct my steps. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Why should I vote for Obama? Because he's the best candidate for the job. Obama is FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. He's obviously very intelligent, even tempered, and exercises good judgement. It takes a cool head, his confidence, his desire for change in Washington to best serve FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. He "IS" who we want in Washington DC.

I believe that if at this point in time, if we elect another Republican to the office of PRESIDENT, we'll be voting for more of another "BUSH" administration. It will be like "BUSH" is still in office. I've been a Republican for most of my adult life. Even now I'm a Republican registered as a Democrat so that I can vote in local elections. In my small AMERICAN town, we don't have a lot of Republicans running for offices.

I believe, as an AMERICAN voter, that OBAMA chose the best candidate for his running mate. If the only complaint anyone can come up with against OBAMA is that he lacks in experience, he exercised brilliant judgement by choosing SENATOR JOE BIDEN as his second in command. A GREAT LEADER is not someone who can handle every job in Washington. A GREAT LEADER is someone who can delegate to experts in every area the responsibilities to men and women who exercise good judgement and are willing to change their position when it is required for the protection of THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. OBAMA cannot tell us when life begins, because only GOD can tell us WHEN life begins. Biden brings the experience years in Washington to assist with changing OUR economy and FOREIGN AFFAIRS. I don't need anyone to tell me how to vote. I'm an intelligent, well educated AMERICAN. I AM VOTING FOR OBAMA "OUR" agent for CHANGE IN WASHINGTON.

Our military is overworked, underpaid, and stretched beyond the breaking point. We "NEED" AN AGENT FOR CHANGE. To support our military, to settle international disputes, and to GET OUR TROOPS home. My only concern about an OBAMA administration is the HE DOES NOT WANT TO RAISE TAXES. We have a huge deficit in spending. It takes taxes and reduced spending to lower the deficit. The current administration has shown flaws in how to most effectively utilize our military. The Clinton administration showed flaws in allowing Saddam Hussein to continue as leader of IRAQ after DESERT STORM. PRESIDENTS OUR HUMAN BEINGS, AND AS SUCH WILL MAKE MISTAKES. I judge OBAMA to be a leader who will keep his mistakes to a minimum and best rescue the AMERICAN ECONOMY and to handle FOREIGN AFFAIRS.

Look at the candidates and not at their party affiliations to decide your vote. OBAMA IS THE "BEST" AGENT FOR CHANGE IN WASHINGTON.

This is really hard to write. My vision is fading. My muscles are becoming weak and useless. First I thought it was just my approaching the age of 52, but no it had to be something earth shattering special just for me. I wonder if this is how Job felt when God let Satan test Job's faith in God. I'm really really sick. Most people don't understand how really sick I am. I'm not afraid of death itself. I'm just afraid to leave these two mama's boys I've raised. They need me. They need me more than they know. They need me less than either of them realize. I'm sure they'll be alright if they lose me physically or mentally. I trust my family to see that whatever remains of Little Rosie will be taken care of until Jesus takes my hand and leads me to my new beginning. Mostly I worry about my grand daughter. She's turning seven in September, a Virgo just like her granny. For the time being she lives with her mother who is somewhat emotionally unstable but will never seek help. She's not being the positive female role model I had planned to be for my grand daughter.

Tonight my head still hurts, my pain med have made me nauseous.

I've taken two ambien and still can't go to sleep. I can't use the computer very long. My eyes are hypersensitive to the light. I have to be careful, I fall down a lot now. I have a walker I borrowed from an elderly neighbor. Sad huh? One doctor will tell me they don't know what's wrong with me, and can't do anything else for me. The next doctor says that he's not certain that I have MS but he won't cut me lose in pain to fend for myself.

As it turned out, the really really hot looking doctor wasn't a very good doctor. I have an appointment on August fifth to see a neurologist; hopefully she can interpret my MRI and my CAT scan and shed some light on what is making me so violently ill.

I thought I had a stroke recently. The PA in the ER insisted no I hadn't had a stroke, that I had taken Valium. Apparently there was Valium in the blood they drew. Even though, it had been over a month since I had stopped taking the Valium. Plus when we dumped the leftovers there were still 29 of the 30 pills in the bottle. We threw them away anyway. I've had headaches and vomited a lot today. I feel kind of sick again right now. Maybe if I put my ice bag back on my stomach, I'll be able to cool off enough to go to sleep for a bit.

I was thinking today about the Jewish families that lived in this small town of mine when I was a little girl. They were all good people and my family loved them and they loved us. Years go by so quickly. A time will come when there won't be people like me who remember the stories that came to my hometown from the WWII.

We had many Jewish families but there was no temple for them to worship in so they simply worshipped with us and carried on their traditions in their own homes. They were good people. I knew them. I loved them. I trusted them, but they were incomplete, they lost many family members to the concentration camps. My father fought over there he saw the camps were real.

I have an uncle who was later stationed in Germany and married a young German girl. She lived near a concentration camp. There were certain times when she and her sister were called into the house and the doors and windows closed tight to keep out the stench. The ovens burned the Jews, some dead already, some screaming, but the smoke and the odor followed the wind. When the stench had faded, the were allowed to play outside again.

My aunt is in her 70's now. When she's gone, and people like I are gone, who will carry one the truth the the holocaust was very very real. I was human devastation at it's worse. I hate being sick, but I don't know that my doctor is adequate to diagnose and treat me. He's kind of young, not much older than my kids. He seems a little bit afraid of making a mistake or maybe he's just afraid of me I do have that effect on men. He's found so far that I have a high thyroid which took 2 years of testing, and extremely high cholesterol that only took one test but took 2 years for his to order it. I don't know what this doctor is doing but there is something terribly wrong with my immune system and it's not HIV. I've been sick like this all my like and there is a immune dificiencey that a child is born with, Primary Immune Difiencey Disorder. What do I know? I'm just a patient. I don't know what tests I need to ask for, but I keep having a recurring burring of my vision and sometimes my eyes seem to cross. My entire life I have felt extremely fatigued and my muscles have always felt week. I could never run and play like the other children. I always had problems with my sinuses, drainage, or infections. It still always takes me longer than anyone else to recover from a cold or anything simple like that. I don't know what to say; I don't know what to do.

Damn it! I'm sick! I'm sick! I'm sick of being sick! I'd rather lie down and die at this point, but my sons keep telling me I'm never allowed to die.

Violence exists in our world. Wars, crime, and more expose us to violence on a daily basis. All it takes is watching the evening news, and you see violence is a common part of our daily lives.

Psychologists and sociologists have studied violence for decades. Seldom do people accept their explanations. Often they point to violence in video games, television, and movies, as well as in our day to day lives.

I view one major cause of violence in our society as desensitization. We are surrounded by violence; we witness violence frequently. It becomes common place, and we in turn become less sensitive to violence.

To learn more about what I'm talking about, look into learning theory, cognitive theory, and into Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. There are many reasons that individuals become violent. Desensitization is far most in my thinking as a major cause of violence. You may wish to look into the terminology "Desensitization".

I hope this helps you understand the effects of environmental influences on violence.

Right now I'm kind of in a pissy mood. I spend weeks at a time trying to make up with my friend Dom. I even apologize to him for things he's actually said or done to me. I am sorry that we fight, but some people just effect each other that way.

Maybe it's actually good for me to fight with Dom. I've always gotten along with everyone over the years and suddenly I have to actually put in a lot of effort to get along with Dom. I understand that Kyle is in Afghanistan and that Dom misses him. I guess I have to admit I miss him to even when he's mean to me, I know deep down that he's just joking around. It's pretty much the same way I joke around. Dom is different though, it's okay for him to joke around but the rest of us shouldn't complain.

Men have always been frustrating to me, eventhough I've raised 2 really good guys of my own. My sons say they never could have wished for a better mom than me. I was patient, understanding, and forgiving. I taught them that they could talk to me about anything they ever felt the need to. I told them they didn't have to talk to me about everything, but that they always had that option. It worked out pretty well. They're both adults and have good jobs for this area. I worry about my oldest, he drives a semi-truck, and I worry about the youngest because eventhough he only drives to and from work mostly, he's just not a very good driver.
My boys' dad is still around. He's never spent much time with them, and I've always turned out to be the one who taught them guy stuff. I've worried a lot as to whether I got it right or not, but all their friends tell me they wish their moms had been more like me. I guess that says a lot.
I guess raising 2 very small men, to strong independent men, is quite an accomplishement for any mom. Most the time I served as both mom and dad, but both my sons say I did great and shouldn't worry.

I just love my kids so much, I want everything in life to be good for them and to them.

Where's The Crude Oil In North America Now?

There was a time when our streets were full of oil wells. Our streets were black with mud mixed with crude. Where did it go? Did we use it all? Is it in the US Oil Reserves? Is it in Alaska?By the time I was born into this small town in Oklahoma the coal mines had been depleted. I could probably locate one coal mine in my area and it's miles away. During the booming hay day of the coal industry, small towns went up. Now many of our small towns are shrinking, being held together by a single factory or two and family histories. Most of our towns here went up during or before the coal mines were a major local industry. Do oil companies ever look at these parts of vanishing America and say, "What's under those small towns?" Once you get past the coal mines, what are the chances that there is crude oil there. Oklahoma was boomed as an oil producer. What are the chances that it is still the home of major oil reserves that were never tapped because of the small towns that went up on top of the oil reserves.What if the government, or the oil companies, started buy out these small towns with dying economies? What if they started drilling again? This time, they could drill where the aging buildings are now falling to dust anyway. Places they couldn't drill before because we were a thriving young township? If we have dying economies in our small towns in Oklahoma, what if they also have them in Texas, California, and other areas where oil has been produced locally in the past.Refineries are a problem? Why not build the people uprooting for oil drilling, homes, and refineries which will in turn provide their citizens with jobs?

Man Can Fly....
As a Christian, I've never understood why people believe that they can fly, but they do not believe in God. Sounds silly to me. Those who believe that man can fly of course would say, "We see people fly all the time, of course we know they can fly." Somepeople would say, "We see airplanes take off and land all the time." Yet people still say there is no God. Which leaves me terribly confused because I've seen God in my life, in the world, for as long as I can remember. Why can't the people who call themselves Atheists or Agnostics or even Religious people say, "They have never seen God?"
People also say, "They have never heard God?" How can that be, when He speaks to me all the time. When no one else has time for me God always has time for me.
I remember when my sons were very small and we'd run very low on food, or I'd have no gasoline to drive them to school. I just asked God to feel our needs, and He did. How can anyone not believe there is a God. Do they not look? Do they not listen? Do they not simply ask that He reveal Himself to them?
I'll never understand how people believe they can fly, but they do not believe that God can lift an airplane? People speak to one another; they listen to one another; they believe in one another. For some reason, they simply aren't on speaking terms with God? I talk to God everyday, sometimes he answers my prayers exactly as I'd like Him too. Sometimes He fills someone else's need that makes it impossible to fill my requests.
I have seen the face of God, I have walked with Jesus The Christ, my prayers are often obviously answered. There are still those who doubt. I pray for them too.
A man can fly, but a man cannot understand infinite love and forgiveness. This confuses me.

I Honestly Don’t Believe That God Makes Mistakes....

I believe that there is a good reason behind everything that happens in life. For instance I didn’t have the best parents in the world but having them gave my kids the best mom I could possibly be.
When hardships happen, what doesn’t kill us really does make us stronger better people.
Many people believe that if there is a God at all He just stands back a watches as people go to Hell in a handbasket. What I believe is that everything that happens to us in life prepares us for the next challenge in life. We learn and we grow as human beings.
The last 2 years have been very painful for my family and friends. We’ve buried way too many people. We watched a marriage come to a wasteful end.
I myself have learned that most "friends" aren’t the kind of "friend" I believe in being. I believe that my true friends are the people who know how stupid I can be and love me anyway. My friends are aslo the people I fight with and fight for. If a spat between friends ends a friendship, then at least one of us was never a true friend to begin with.
Most of my personal friends have always been men. I like to do guy stuff. I love classic cars and would rather help under the hood of a classic Mustang than to cruise around in my son’s new one. I love to fish. I’m a good shot but I really rather shoot cans than animals. I used to love horseback riding, but I’m way out of practice.
I try to eat right, and workout regularly. Mostly I like to workout to hot dance music. If I were rich I’d hire a private trainer, but that’s not apt to happen in my lifetime.
I’ve never really been about money or material possession, right now I’ll admit I could use a car becaue I really want to return to working full time. Other than that things are just things, and money just buys more things. If I have a roof over my head and a way to find food, that pretty much covers my basic needs.
I’m different than most women, I’d rather rough it than live in the lap of luxury. Things don’t bring happiness, they may be fun sometimes. Fun though isn’t necessarily real and lasting happiness or there wouldn’t be so many divorces in the world.
I believe that people are important. I always wanted to do something with my life to help other people. At the age of 4 I wanted to be a Peace Corp. doctor. Later I wanted to become a teacher. Later I decided to work in business, but it just never felt right, being in it for the money. When it came right down to it I became a psychotherapist so that I could help people. I’d completed therapy myself with my children after my divorce. At some point later I began a minor in psychology and fell in love in the field. So I majored in that earned a Master’s Degree and became a psychotherapist. (A psychotherapist is not medical doctor or necessarily a Phd.) What I actually do when or if I choose to work is considered ’’Talk Therapy". Some call what I do Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies because I work with people to think differently about what’s going wrong in their lives and to change the thoughts and the behaviors that contribute to their unhappiness.
I used to do a lot of volunteer work with US troops online. I have had a lot of experience with PTSD and with insomnia. Unfortunatley, I came about my early experience the hard way, but have since learned all that I can about PTSD and about insomnia.
I still ask questions. I still love learning more, especially learning things that help me to be better at what I do, and to help others more.
I guess it’s time to go to bed now, at least for me.

Many conspiracy theories have arisen and fallen by the way side in my lifetime. Everytime there is an event that makes a mark on history, a dozen if not hundreds of conspiracy theories arise. I cannot debunk them all.

In 1963 I was barely past 7 years of age when my first president, President John F. Kennedy was riding in a convertible in a parade in dallas. I was so young, but the memories are so vivid of that day. The parade was passing through the streets of Dallas. We were watching the President's car, we all wanted to see our president, the first that many of us would remember. There was a gunshot that rang out, being a farm kid I could tell by the sound that it was a powerful rifle of some kind. I saw the President and Mrs. Kennedy. The President had been hit in the head, it looked like a large chunk of the back of his head had been blown onto the trunk of the convertible. His wife was screaming, panicking, she was trying to help her injured husband and to retrieve the chunk of what appeared to be bone and brain matter from the trunk of the car. I didn't see who pulled the trigger, but the shot obviously came from one of the tall buildings nearby. We were raced away from the traumatic view. The next I heard what that our president was dead and President Johnson had been sworn in. I believe he was sworn in on Air Force 1 although I don't remember that clearly after the trauma of that day.

The next trauma I witnessed, was when I was much older. It was the day after my first grandchild was born. She was born on September 10, 2001. On the eleventh I was too excited to sleep and was sitting in my living room watching one of the morning news shows. Something I do so seldom I don't even remember which morning show it was. They were filming a feature in New York City. Suddenly someone shouted something about a plane heading for the Trade Center; the camera panned to the building as the plane struck it. There was a great deal of chatter as major news casters began to pick up the story just as the second plane flew into the Trade Center. People were panicking in the streets and in the news rooms. What next? The day became as haze. Later it came on the news that passengers on a 3rd plane had called loved ones to say goodbye and that they were going to try to stop the highjackers on their plane. The plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. There was a fourth plane that was said to have hit the pentagon. Although I did not see the fourth plane, the damage was immediately on the air of most news networks.

Both these events in history I bore witness to. Both have beecome the subject of many conspiracy theories. This is why I believe what my mother told me. She said as I was growing up, "Believe nothing that you hear, and only half of what you see." For once in her life my mom was right.

My Only Fantasy

Sometimes the most important thing to remember is what we really want out of life. So what do I really want out of life? I want my family and friends healthy and happy. The man of dream of doesn't seem to be in Oklahoma, but maybe someday we'll find each other. I'm a woman, of course I want a man to love, honor, and cherish me. I think that's pretty normal. Sometimes I imagine he's standing behind me with his arms around me, kissing me on the head and whispering how blessed he truly is. Wouldn't that be special, just to have a man in my life (besides my sons) who appreciates me for my mind, my heart, and my soul. A man who understands why I see him as so very special, I may even see him as way too special for someone as plain and simple as I am. I enjoy my simple life. I just miss being loved and appreciated by a very special man in my life, that someone to hold me. Wouldn't it be beautiful to meet a man who loves me and wants to take care of me and protect me, eventhough he knows I can take care of and protect myself. It would still be a sweet thought. Maybe someday, one of my friendships will grow into something more. Perhaps someday, I'll meet someone who wants to hold me for the rest of our lives.

Maybe, maybe not.

Romances sit and collect dust around my house, but my son insisted that I watch this "chick flick" he's watched. It's a beatiful love story of course. My being a hopeless cynic when it comes to romance resisted watching it. Yet I'm glad that I did. It ended beautifully. I'd advise anyone with a heart to watch "The Notebook." I've grown to believe that love is a fallacy; I'm truly cynical when it comes to love. It seems so few know the difference between love and lust. This movie is about both. Even someone like I, who don't watch romances, fell in love with the characters of tis movie. Please watch it, and share it with the one you love.

I think, I analyze my thought, I rationalize my thought, and I may or may not act on my thought. I don't always finish with the same thought that I started with. Sometimes I experience what is called a cognitive distortion. A cognitive distortion is an adverse view of an event, behavior, or thought. Sometimes the first thought I think is not accurate for the situation at all. There are many cognitive distortions that people may experience before they take the time to analyze the accuracy of the primary thought. Once one experiences the primary thought, one can then ask oneself, "Is this true?" Next one may ask oneself, "How do I know if this is true or not?" Then one may ask oneself, "What is it that I KNOW to be true about this idea or situation?"
Next, I'll repost a list I've posted before sharing examples of cognitive distortions. Hopefully with the aid of this list you may learn to analyze your own thoughts and recognize which thoughts are accurate or distorted.

Jumping to conclusions - Assuming something negative where there is no evidence to support it. Two specific subtypes are also identified:
Mind reading - Assuming the intentions of others.
Fortune telling - Predicting how things will turn before they happen. (See slippery slope.)
Magnification and Minimization - Inappropriately understating or exaggerating the way people or situations truly are. Often the positive characteristics of other people are exaggerated and negative characteristics are understated. There is one subtype of magnification:
Catastrophizing - Focusing on the worst possible outcome, however unlikely, or thinking that a situation is unbearable or impossible when it is really just uncomfortable.
Emotional reasoning - Making decisions and arguments based on how you feel rather than objective reality. (See appeal to consequences.)
Making should statements - Concentrating on what you think "should" or ought to be rather than the actual situation you are faced with, or having rigid rules which you think should always apply no matter what the circumstances are. Albert Ellis' termed this "Musterbation". (See wishful thinking.)
Labeling - Explaining behaviors or events, merely by naming them; related to overgeneralization. Rather than describing the specific behavior, you assign a label to someone or yourself that puts them in absolute and unalterable terms.
Personalization (or attribution) - Assuming you or others directly caused things when that may not have been the case. (See illusion of control.) When applied to others this is an example of blame.
